Description

I'm amazed at how well i'm progress is coming along. After going through a bit of a slump I buckled down and started drawing this tiger. However this time i spent a lot of my time without a reference so I had to rely on what I thought would make the piece look good. Having done this I'm starting to see a reference can only do so much and dependance on it can hinder my ability to make a piece that can stand on its own. I think I'll try this method for a while ;)

So you're trying out drawing without a reference? That's pretty good. It's always a good idea to rely on your own ideas from time to time. And it's also important to know the details of the real subject as well So here's the deal:

Whiskers could be dispersed a bit more a bit less thick as well. Stripes are done well. Although the pattern on the head is a bit overused. The head should be more defined from the neck. Perhaps like Using a lighter shade around the edge of the head. The head seems a bit uneven, the nose seems to moved a bit from the center. Shading could also be a bit more distinct
