Description

Day Seventy Seven

Today I decided to go for a change of pace by drawing the Grass Pokemon Grotle. This was mainly for practicing shading and getting form. Sometimes I think I'm getting ahead of myself by focusing on anatomy so soon. That and I'm on the Diamond and Pearl Arc of Pokemon Adventure XD

I see that this is a copy of the grotle picture you can find around. Your shading is pretty good here. but it could be sharper and darker, it would be more striking this way. Being too light will just make it very fuzzy. Course the trick is to go beyond what's what you see, even if it's a little.
The shrubs could be given more detail by adding more scraggly lines in it to show depth. The toes could be given more depth as well by adding lines that split the claws evenly, they could also be more pronounced. the shell could be more a more conventional turtle shell is a hexagon pattern.

Basically, don't be satisfied with a copy of an image, go even farther than intended.

And so I challenge you to do just that. Get some PKMN or smomething and make it more detailed than the original. Or rather, draw it your own way. And use the original image only as reference for your own. And if you can, make your own pose as well.
